What to pack for T100 Vancouver

The Vancouver T100 runs on one transition and three bags — you swim off Locarno Beach, ride and run out of a single transition at the Jericho Sailing Centre, and finish back on the sand. Your kit splits across a black swim-to-bike bag, a red bike-to-run bag and a white after-race bag, and everything goes in the day before. Here's exactly what goes in each, when check-in closes, and how race morning runs.

how the race is laid out

A single transition, in three places.

The swim and the finish are on Locarno Beach, but the bike and run both pivot through one transition at the Jericho Sailing Centre a few hundred metres along the shore. You come back to the same rack between the bike and the run — the bag colours, not the venues, tell you when you'll touch your kit.

One transition means the bag colour — not the venue — tells you when it's handled. Black and red both hang on your numbered rack in the change tent the day before and stay overnight; only the white after-race bag lives at the beach bag-check, not in transition. Pack to the bag, not to the moment.
what to pack

Three bags, by colour.

T100 gives you two transition bags plus an after-race bag, and the 2026 guide is specific about which is which — black is your swim-to-bike (T1) bag, red is your bike-to-run (T2) bag. Pack each for the discipline it powers.

Dropped at the bag-check by the Registration Tent on Locarno Beach — NOT in transition — and picked up there after you finish. Only the designated white bag is accepted; large bags aren't.
+What you carry to the water (not in a bag): goggles, the timing chip on your left ankle, and the green swim cap from your race pack. Locarno Beach is a cool Pacific swim, so it's usually wetsuit-legal under World Triathlon rules — check the race-morning call. Everything else has already gone into the three bags.
check-in & the clock

Your bike goes in the night before.

The Vancouver T100 runs a mandatory day-before bike & bag check-in — your bike and both transition bags go into the Jericho Sailing Centre transition on Saturday and stay overnight under 24-hour security. There's no race-morning check-in. Check-in closes Saturday at 16:30, confirmed from the 2026 athlete guide.

common questions

Vancouver, answered.

What are the three bags at the Vancouver T100?

The black bag is your swim-to-bike (T1) bag — helmet, bike shoes and ride nutrition — and the red bag is your bike-to-run (T2) bag with your running shoes and bib. The white bag is a post-race bag for dry clothes, dropped at the beach bag-check rather than in transition.

Do I have to check my bike in the day before?

Yes. Bike and bag check-in is mandatory and day-before, at the Jericho Sailing Centre transition, closing Saturday at 16:30. Your bike and both transition bags stay overnight under 24-hour security — there is no race-morning check-in.

Where do the black and red bags go in transition?

On your numbered rack in the change tent: the black swim-to-bike bag on the bottom row, the red bike-to-run bag on the top row. Between disciplines you take your bag from the rack, change in the tent, and hang it back — nothing leaves the change tent.

Is the Vancouver T100 a wetsuit swim?

Usually yes. It's a cool two-lap ocean swim off Locarno Beach, and under World Triathlon rules a wetsuit is allowed in the cooler water this coast tends to bring. It's a mass swim with an Aussie exit between the two 1 km laps — check the race-morning wetsuit call to be sure.

What time does check-in close?

Bike & transition-bag check-in closes Saturday at 16:30, confirmed from the 2026 athlete guide. Everything in the black and red bags — and the bike — has to be right before that, because there's no race-morning check-in.

What's the cut-off for the 100 km?

The overall cut-off is 14:50 — 8h20 after the 06:30 start. Bike and bag check-out runs from 12:00 to 14:30, so plan to collect your bike and white bag once you've finished.

Where does the white bag go?

The white after-race bag holds the dry clothes you want at the finish. You drop it at the bag-check by the Registration Tent on Locarno Beach before the race — not in transition — and pick it up there afterwards. Only the designated white bag is accepted; large bags aren't.
