Upcoming race guides →What to pack for IRONMAN 70.3 Luxembourg
IRONMAN 70.3 Luxembourg is a single-transition 70.3 at Remich on the Moselle — you rack on the Esplanade, with colour-coded bags for the bike and the run plus a white street-wear bag, and your bike goes in the day before. The swim is a river swim in the Moselle, the run finishes by the open-air pool, and here's exactly what goes in each bag.
A single transition, in two places.
Swim, bike and run all turn through one transition on the Esplanade — you come back to the same rack between disciplines. The river swim starts here, the bike loops out through the Moselle vineyards, and the flat run finishes a few hundred metres along the bank at the open-air pool.
Three bags, by colour.
IRONMAN's colour-to-bag scheme is the same across European 70.3s, so this part is settled. Pack each bag for the discipline it powers — and note the helmet goes inside the blue bag, not on the bike.

Your bike goes in the night before.
Luxembourg runs a mandatory day-before bike check-in on the Esplanade with the bike racked overnight — there's no race-morning bike check-in to fall back on. You rack the bike with both the blue and red bags on Saturday afternoon, and it's where you collect your timing chip.
The 2026 official guide is in. The times below are now confirmed for this edition — a few moved from last year.
How the morning typically runs.
The choreography barely moves year to year — transition opens at 06:15 and closes at 07:45, the white street bag is dropped at the open-air pool until 08:00, then the rolling swim start on the Moselle from 08:05. The order is what matters.
Remich, answered.
How many bags does Luxembourg use?
Three: blue for the bike, red for the run, white for street wear. It's a single transition, so blue and red both sit at the one rack on the Esplanade; the white bag is dropped separately at the open-air pool.
What colour bag is the bike bag?
The blue bag is your bike / T1 bag — helmet, bike shoes, sunglasses, race belt and ride nutrition. It's racked with your bike on the Esplanade the day before, and the rules require your helmet to be inside the blue bag, not left on the bike.
Where does the white bag go — it's not at the swim start?
No. The white street bag is dropped at the open-air pool, which is the finish area, on race morning until 08:00, and you collect it there after the line. It isn't handed in at the swim start the way some races run it. Don't pack valuables or your pump in it.
Do I have to check my bike in the day before?
Yes. Bike check-in is mandatory and day-before on the Esplanade, racked overnight, and it's where you collect your timing chip. There is no race-morning bike check-in, so don't plan to bring it on the day.
What's the swim like — it's in the Moselle?
It's a one-loop 1.9 km river swim with a low current that starts from the bank at Remich and crosses to the German side of the river and back. Wetsuits are legal up to 24.6°C and mandatory below 16°C, and only the official swim cap from your race pack is allowed.
What should I pack for the weather and the bike?
Mid-July in the Moselle wine country is warm by day but cool at the early start. Pack arm warmers or a light jacket in the blue bag for the rolling 90 km vineyard loop, and a cap, sunglasses and sunscreen in the red bag for the flat, exposed riverside run.
