Upcoming race guides →What to pack for IRONMAN 70.3 Vitoria-Gasteiz
IRONMAN 70.3 Vitoria-Gasteiz is a split-transition 70.3 — so you don't pack one bag, you pack three colour-coded ones that travel for you, and your bike goes in the day before. The swim is in the reservoir at Landa, the finish is in the city on Calle Olaguíbel, and here's exactly what goes in each bag, when check-in closes, and how race morning runs.
Each bag travels to where you'll need it.
On a split course you never return to where you started, so your kit is split across colour-coded bags that get moved for you while you race.
A split transition, in three places.
Swim and bike start out at the reservoir at Landa. The bike comes back to a second transition in the city on Calle Olaguíbel, and the run finishes on the same street in the centre — you never return to where you started. That's why your kit is split across bags that get moved for you while you race.
Three bags, by colour.
IRONMAN's colour-to-bag scheme is the same across European 70.3s, so this part is settled. Pack each bag for the discipline it powers and label nothing else.

Your bike goes in the night before.
Vitoria-Gasteiz runs a mandatory day-before bike check-in out at Landa with the bike racked overnight — there's no race-morning bike check-in to fall back on. Bike and run-bag check-in run together across Saturday afternoon, from 13:00, and the day-before bike rack is the one chance you get.
The 2026 official guide is in. The times below are now confirmed for this edition — a few moved from last year.
How the morning typically runs.
The choreography barely moves year to year — transition opens at 05:30, the white morning-clothes bag goes in, T1 closes at 06:50, then the rolling swim start at Landa. The order is what matters.
Vitoria-Gasteiz, answered.
What colour bag is the bike bag at Vitoria-Gasteiz?
The blue bag is your bike / T1 bag — helmet, bike shoes, sunglasses, race belt and ride nutrition. It's racked with your bike out at Landa, beside the reservoir, the day before.
Why are there three bags?
It's a split (point-to-point) transition: the swim and bike start at the reservoir at Landa, the run starts from a second transition in the city on Calle Olaguíbel, and you finish on the same street. The colour-coded bags carry your kit between those points so you don't have to.
Do I have to check my bike in the day before?
Yes. Bike check-in is mandatory and day-before, racked overnight out at Landa from 13:00 on Saturday. There is no race-morning bike check-in, so don't plan to bring it on the day.
Can I pack or sort kit on race morning?
Only your white morning-clothes bag is handled on the day. Blue and red are dropped on Saturday — blue with the bike at Landa, red at T2 in the city — and you can't get back into them, so everything for the bike and run has to be right before check-in closes.
Where does the white bag go?
The white bag holds the dry clothes you arrive in. You hand it in at the swim start at Landa and it's moved to the finish, so warm kit is waiting on Calle Olaguíbel when you cross the line in the city.
What time does check-in close?
Bike and run-bag check-in both close at 19:00 on Saturday, confirmed from the 2026 athlete guide. On race morning, transition and the streetwear bag drop close at 06:50 — check the briefing for any last-minute change.
