What to pack for IRONMAN 70.3 Poznan

Poznan is a split-transition 70.3 across two venues — you swim in Lake Kierskie and rack at the Arka Kiekrz football field (T1), then ride 90 km into the city to Enea Stadion, where T2, the finish and the whole race hub live. Three colour-coded bags, a day-before check-in split across both venues, and here's exactly what goes in each bag, when check-in closes, and how race morning runs.

how your bags travel

Each bag waits where you'll need it.

On a split course you never return to where you started, so your kit goes into separate bags that wait for you along the course.

how the race is laid out

A split transition, in three places.

This is a true two-venue split — T1 sits by the lake in Kiekrz on the north-west edge of the city, and T2 is 90 km of riding later at Enea Stadion. Your blue bag waits at T1, your red bag at Enea Stadion, and the black bag is carried from the start to the finish for you.

finishEnea StadionThe run finishes at the stadium, beside T2. Your black bag meets you here.
▪With a split transition you finish a city away from where you started, so plan the morning trip out to Kiekrz — the organiser runs special trains from Poznań Główny — and pack each bag for its venue: once Saturday check-in closes, the blue and red bags are in different places. Late-August Poland is mild — expect a cool morning by the lake and a warm afternoon in the city.
what to pack

Three bags, by colour.

IRONMAN's colour-to-bag scheme runs here too, so this part is settled: three bags handed to you at Registration — blue, red and black. Pack each for the discipline it powers, and remember the blue and red bags check in at different venues on Saturday.

+What you carry to the water (not in a bag): wetsuit, goggles, timing chip on the ankle, and the swim cap from your race pack — wear the cap colour you were issued; it marks your start wave. Expected water temperature is 17–21 °C, so plan on a wetsuit swim; below 16 °C wetsuits are mandatory.
check-in & the clock

Your bike goes in the night before.

Poznan runs a mandatory day-before check-in split across two venues — bike and blue bag at Arka Kiekrz, red bag at Enea Stadion, both 12:00–21:30 on Saturday, with the bike racked overnight. There's no race-morning check-in to fall back on.

common questions

Poznan, answered.

What colour bag is the bike bag at Poznan?

The blue bag is your bike / T1 bag — helmet, bike shoes, sunglasses, race belt and ride nutrition. It checks in with your bike at Arka Kiekrz on Saturday, and you pack your swim gear into it after T1.

How many bags do I pack?

Three, handed to you at Registration: blue for the bike, red for the run, black for morning clothes. The blue and red bags check in the day before; the black bag stays with you until race morning.

Where do the bags check in?

Two different venues on Saturday, both 12:00–21:30: the bike and blue bag at Arka Kiekrz (T1), the red bag at Enea Stadion (T2). One stop won't cover it — plan Saturday around both venues.

Is bike check-in the day before mandatory?

Yes — Saturday 12:00–21:30 at Arka Kiekrz, racked overnight. There is no race-morning bike check-in; on Sunday the T1 zone runs 07:30–09:00 only for final prep and the black-bag deposit.

Is it a wetsuit swim?

Expect one — the organiser states 17–21 °C water in Lake Kierskie, inside the wetsuit-legal range. Below 16 °C wetsuits are mandatory; above 24.5 °C they're prohibited.

What are the cut-offs?

The 2026 guide counts them from your individual start: 1:10 for the swim, 5:30 through the end of the bike, 8:30 overall — your own start time sets your limits. Two fixed checkpoints on the bike course close at 14:48 (70 km) and 15:16 (80 km).

Where does the race finish?

At Enea Stadion, beside T2 — a city away from the swim start. Your black bag is moved there for you; bike and bag check-out runs 16:00–20:30.
