What to pack for IRONMAN 70.3 Waco
IRONMAN 70.3 Waco is a single-transition 70.3 you seed yourself — North-American format, so there is no blue / red bag system. You rack your own bike and kit at Heritage Square, the bike goes in on Saturday and stays overnight, and you bring your own gear bag on race morning. The swim runs downriver on the Brazos and the run finishes at the Waco Suspension Bridge.
A single transition, in two places.
Swim, bike and run all turn through one transition at Heritage Square on Austin Ave. You come back to the same rack between disciplines, and the run finishes a short way off at the Waco Suspension Bridge — the only part of the day that is not at the square.
Three bags, by colour.
There is no colour-to-bag scheme here beyond the white Morning Clothes Bag. Think in legs: group your bike kit and your run kit at your own rack space, and put the dry clothes you arrive in into the white bag.

Your bike goes in the night before.
Waco runs a mandatory day-before bike check-in at Heritage Square with the bike racked overnight, and there is no race-morning check-in. Athlete briefings run in both English and Spanish across Friday and Saturday.
The 2026 official guide is in. The times below are now confirmed for this edition — a few moved from last year.
How the morning typically runs.
Transition opens at 05:00 and closes at 07:00, and the race starts at 07:20. You walk up to the swim start rather than riding a shuttle, so build that into the hour: finish your rack first, then head upriver.
Waco, answered.
Does Waco use coloured bags?
No. Waco is a North-American self-transition 70.3, so there is no blue / red gear-bag system. The only bag issued at check-in is the white Morning Clothes Bag; you bring your own gear bag for race morning and lay your kit out at your own rack space.
What time does bike check-in close?
Mandatory bike check-in closes Saturday at 17:00, the day before the race, with the bike racked overnight. Athlete Check-In closes at 16:00 on Saturday. Both are confirmed from the 2026 athlete guide.
What are the cut-offs?
You have 8 hours 30 minutes overall, with the swim closing 1:10 and the bike 5:30 after the final athlete starts — durations, not clock times, because the start is rolling. Two are given as times of day: bike Aid Station 3 at 434 and 3rd Street at 13:10, and the run on the Riverwalk underneath the Washington Bridge at 15:30.
When do I get my bike back?
Bike and gear check-out runs 14:00 to 18:00 on race day at Heritage Square, and Morning Clothes Bag pick-up runs alongside it. You cannot collect before 14:00 even if you finish early.
